Dusty Quinn has worked in Dunedin for over 25 years.  Dusty is known nationally in Physiotherapy as a previous vice-president of Physiotherapy New Zealand and the past President of The New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapy. Dusty is a life member of Physiotherapy New Zealand.

Dusty also works with the New Zealand Board of Physiotherapy on professional conduct.
In July 2024 Dusty was voted on to the executive committee of International Federation of Manual and Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy (IFOMPT). This is after serving 4 years as the Member Organisation delegate for Aotearoa New Zealand.

Dusty has been involved in local sport as a physiotherapist to University rugby, Otago Rugby, Highlanders Rugby, New Zealand Universities Rugby and Southern United football. After coaching football for 10 year he is the chair of the Roslyn Wakari AFC Alumni group. A keen kayaker and tramper, Dusty enjoys adventures around New Zealand and describes himself as the “worst fisherman in the world”.

 

 

After completing his undergraduate degree in Belfast in 1988 Dusty worked in Manchester for 2 years before setting off with his wife Bronagh (another physiotherapist) to travel and they ended up in New Zealand. Dusty completed a Masters Degree in 1997 from the University of Otago, before going into business at Back In Motion.

Dusty’s clinical expertise and leadership was recognised in 2018 when he achieved Specialist status in New Zealand. Dusty is one of 10 clinicians who have achieved this status. NZ is the first country in the world to allow the Registration Board to allow physiotherapist to obtain this title. Dusty achieved this status through his post-graduate teaching experience, leadership positions and sports physiotherapy experience. In recent times he has worked with the School of Physiotherapy to investigate the role of the cervical spine in concussion. This has allowed him to work alongside some great researchers in Dunedin.
